Trezor Bridge — The Secure Gateway to Your Hardware Wallet®
Follow the Trezor.io/Start Guide to set up your Trezor hardware wallet safely and securely.
Quick Overview
Trezor Bridge is a lightweight local agent that creates a secure communication channel between your computer (browser or Trezor Suite) and your Trezor hardware wallet. Your private keys never leave the device; Bridge only facilitates encrypted messaging over USB.
How It Works
- Runs as a local agent on Windows / macOS / Linux and listens for requests from supported apps.
- Negotiates a secure, encrypted channel when a Trezor is plugged in so apps can request device actions (e.g., show address, sign transaction).
- All sensitive operations run inside the Trezor device itself — Bridge only relays encrypted messages.
Install & Update (Recommended)
For most users, the recommended path is to use Trezor Suite. Modern Suite releases include the necessary connectivity, and the standalone Bridge is legacy. If needed separately, installers are available from official Trezor assets.
Security Tips
- Always download Bridge or Suite from official Trezor sources.
- Do not approve unexpected requests on your device.
- Keep your device firmware and apps up to date.
- Verify installer signatures for standalone packages.
Troubleshooting
- If your browser doesn’t detect the device, restart Bridge or install the latest Trezor Suite.
- On macOS, allow the Bridge installer in Security & Privacy if blocked.
- Try different USB ports or a data-capable cable if problems persist.
